水是人类生命的源泉。如果没有水，人就无法生存，万物将不能生长，世界将不会如此多姿多彩。因此，我们要珍惜水、爱护水、节约水。
那天，我在小区的公共厕所里洗手。洗着洗着，走来了一个人，她拧开水龙头，把水开得很大。而且洗完手后，连水龙头都不关，就头也不回的走了。我正要关，又进来一个人，此时，水池里的水已经要溢了出来了。那个人也是来洗手的，出乎我意料的是她也没有关上水龙头。望着水龙头的水一滴一滴的流了出来，整个洗手间都静悄悄的，仿佛只有水龙头在哭泣。“滴答!滴答!”让人听了有一种说不出的感觉。我不忍心再看下去。伸手关掉了它。当时我的心情又开心有紧张。顿时，一切又恢复了，四周不知怎么的，显得不那么静了。水龙头也露出了笑脸…
大家也许会觉得不关水龙头这件事与我们的生活无关紧要。但积少成多，如果每个人每天浪费一斤水，一个月就浪费三十斤水，我国还有很多缺水地区，那里的人们每人每天才三斤水，三十斤水对他们来说是多么昂贵啊。

the water clock has three parts.on the left is a tank holding water.this tank has a narrow opening through which water drips into a second container,also a tank.inside the second tank is a floating object,to the end of which is attached a long pole with an arrow.on the right is a cylinder with the numbers one to twelve written on it.as the water from the tank on the left drips into the second tank,the level rises and with it the lfoating object.this causes the arrow to move from one number to the next.one thus has a twelve hour clock.after twelve hours the second tank is emptied and the process is begun again.

“爸爸！你在干吗，知不知道你这样做要浪费多少水资源呀！我命令你从现在开始改掉这个浪费水资源的坏习惯！！！”自从我决定进行节水行动，全家都提心吊胆的，生怕被我抓到，加以惩罚。哈，老爸早上的边刷牙边放水的费水动作被我瞧见了，我就使出了“河东狮吼功”来对付老爸的“费水功”。老爸被我的“河东狮吼功”给击倒了，连忙“求饶”道：“‘大侠’饶命，在下已被您的‘神功’屈服，再也不敢这样做了。”此时，我的`嘴角漾起一丝得意的笑容。

晚上，我正准备洗澡，碰巧看见妈妈正准备把她和妹妹的洗澡水倒掉，我一见此景，大声喝道：“住手！！！”妈妈被我吓了一跳，但很快就恢复了平静，生气的问我：“你干吗呀？！”听罢，我便开始滔滔不绝地讲起了长篇大论：“妈妈，我告诉您，每一滴水对于生活在长久旱灾地区的人们来说，可是能救命的，而您却这么浪费。这洗澡水虽然脏，但还有很多的用处，不是一定要倒掉的，如：冲马桶、拖地······”妈妈听得目瞪口呆，便假装成很敬佩的样子，说：“‘大侠’，您别说了，我知道您‘厉害’，我改还不行吗？！”听完，我又得意洋洋地哈哈大笑起来。

地球上的水资源是有限的，而水是人的生活必需品。听说古时候的西藏人因为缺水，一辈子只能洗一次澡。现在的非洲有些地方严重缺水，有的'人因为缺水而渴死。假如一个水龙头，每秒滴出一滴水，看似微不足道，一年就是惊人的三百吨。假如一直不下雨，地球上的淡水只够我们用四年；假如一个人一直不喝水，只能活4到7天。
水是如此重要，节约用水，人人有责。作为小学生，为了使同学们不会忘记关水龙头，养成节约用水好习惯，我提出以下建议：
第一，在墙上贴一个温馨提示：“节约水资源，请随手关上水龙头。”
第二，把学校普通的水龙头换成自动感应水龙头，人离开后感应水龙头就会自动关闭。

he world is not only hungry,but also thirsty for water. this may seem strange to you, since nearly 75 % of the earth's surface is covered with water. but about 97% of this huge amount is sea water, or salt water. man can only drink and use the other 3% -- the fresh water that comes from rivers, lakes,underground, and other sources. and we cannot even use all of that, because some of it is in the form of icebergs and glaciers. even worse, some of it has been polluted.
however, as things stand today, this small amount of fresh water, which is constantly being replaced by rainfall, is still enough for us. but our need for water is increasing rapidly-- almost day by day. only if we take steps to deal with this problem now can we avoid a severe worldwide water shortage later on. a limited water supply would have a bad effect on agriculture and industry. let me give you just one small exampie of how necessary water is to industry. did you know that to produce a single ton of steel, it takes about 91, 000 liters of water?
we all have to learn how to stop wasting our precious water. one of the first steps we should take is to develop ways of reusing it. experiments have already been done in this field, but only on a small scale. for us, the systems are as important as the spacecraft.
many people believe that the world’s supply of fresh water will never be used up. they think that fresh water comes from such a variety of sources that it is always sufficient for use. such an opinion leads to a shocking waste of water.
as a matter of fact, the earth is short of fresh water. furthermore, with the rapid growth of the world population, the rising demand for water by industry, and the serious pollution of our surroundings, the world is facing the ganger of running out of fresh water. actually, in some big cities, fresh water can not meet the daily needs.
therefore, to find new ways to save water is an urgent task. first, we should pass strict laws to control any waste of water. second, scientists must work even harder to purify sea water, and try to find substitute to reduce the use of fresh water.
