it is undeniable that the worsening environment has become the biggest concern of the present-day world. land resources are dwindling because of water loss and soil erosion. waste gases poison the air we breathe. the rivers and lakes are polluted by waste dumped in them from factories. it is probably no exaggeration to say that deterioration of the quality of the environment threatens the existence of mankind itself.
some people are of the opinion that the environmental problem is the price we have to pay for economic development. but i do not think that this argument is valid. after all, what is the point of economic growth if people’s lives are adversely alfected by worsening environmental pollution?
there is plenty of evidence to show that sustainable development can be achieved by balancing economic growth with protection of the environment. the key to achieving this is to make people aware of the seriousness of the problem. both governments and ordinary citizens should join hands to make this world a better place to live in, not only for ourselves, but also for future generations.

尊敬的各位领导、老师、亲爱的同学们：
晚上好！我很荣幸能参加这次学生会的`竞选，我竞选的职务是“团委副书记”。我叫洪汉斌，大家可不要误听为“黄海冰”哦！他是位影星，我是高一（5）班一名学生。为避免误会，现在我重说一遍，大家一定要记清楚了，我叫洪汉斌，“洪水”的“洪”，“汉族”的“汉”，“文武双全”的“斌”，也就是今天的9号。
进一中以来，我在班上先后担任组织委员、团支书、体育委员。并且一直在校团委会组织部工作。组织部是一个处理团委会，学生日常事物的部门，在组织部的工作，使我对团委会、学生会有一个较全面的认识，也使自己的工作能力有了较大的提高。
在这大半年的工作中，也曾遇到过许多挫折，也曾失落过、消极过。但是那都已成为过去，这些经历反而成为我以后工作的宝贵经验。它使我知道行动前的决策是多么的重要，否则就会事倍功半。我在组织部没有一官半职，但是我积极工作，因此我的工作态度和工作能力曾多次得到师生的好评。这些经历使我有坚定的信心和足够的能力参加这次竞选。
如若承蒙各位的信任和支持，我有幸当选为团委副书记，我将感激万分，并将此化为不尽的动力，在工作中尽职尽责，大胆务实，勇于创新，决不会盲目从事，要有计划的工作。在民主平等的基础上，尽快联系各位干部，团结起来，制定一个切实可行的方案，在最短的时间内使新一届团委会，学生会干部进入状态，使学生会工作步入正轨。在以后的工作中，并不断提高管理和自我管理的能力，不断完善自己。
俗话说：“没有最好，只有更好。我相信在领导的信任，上届干部的帮助，同学们的支持和自我创新下会使校团委的工作更上一层楼。

youth means a temperamental predominance of courage over timidity of the appetite , for adventure over the love of ease. this often exists in a man of 60 more than a boy of 20 . nobody grows old merely by a number of years . we grow old by deserting our ideals.
years wrinkle the skin , but to give up enthusiasm wrinkles the soul . worry , fear , self –distrust bows the heart and turns the spirit back to dust .
whether 60 of 16 , there is in every human being &bs heart the lure of wonders, the unfailing childlike appetite of what‟s next and the joy of the game of living . in the center of your heart and my heart there‟s a wireless station : so long as it receives messages of beauty , hope ,cheer, courage and power from men and from the infinite, so long as you are young .
when the aerials are down , and your spirit is covered with snows of cynicism and the ice of pessimism, then you are grown old ,even at 20 , but as long as your aerials are up ,to catch waves of optimism , there is hope you may die young at 80. that‟s all ! thank you!

i have a dream every one has his own dream.when i was a little kid ,my dream was even to have a candy shop of my own .but now ,when i am 16 years old ,standing here ,my dreams have already changed a lot.
i have got quite different experience from other girls.while they were playing toys at home,while they were dreaming to be the princesses in the story .i was running in the hard rain,jumping in the heavy snow,pitching in the strong wind.nothing could stop me ,because of a wonderful call from my heart -- to be an athlete.yeah ,of course ,i'm an athlete,i'm so proud of that all the time .
when i was 10 years old ,i became a shot-put athlete.the training was really hard ,i couldn't bear the heavy shot in my hands .but i always believe that "god only help those who help themselves".during those hard days,i find i was growing more quickly than others of the same age.to be an athlete is my most correct choice.but,i quit my team after entering high school because of a silly excuse.i really didn't want to stop my sports career anyway.
today i say to you my friends that even though i must face the difficulties of yesterday ,today and tomorrow .i still have a dream .it is a dream deeply rooted in my soul.
i have a dream that one day ,i can run,jump and pitch just like i used to be.
i have a dream that one day , i can go back to my dream sports and join the national team.

盛夏之夜，我与妈妈一同坐在沙发上，妈妈随手举起放在桌旁的地球仪，指着英国伦敦说：“这里有个举世闻名的格林威治天文台，世界时间就从这里开始。”
“时间?时间在哪儿?我怎么看不见它的影儿?”我发问道。
“时间来无踪去无影，看不见摸不着，但我们可以感受到时间的痕迹。”妈妈回答说。
多深奥多抽象的“时间”概念啊，以前我对“时间”的.了解甚少，只知道它是由秒、分、时、日、月、年组成的，而今我明白了时间是会留下痕迹的。
我回想着我曾过去的四千多日子里，从幼儿到快要进入中学的少年，从书柜中的《看图说话》、《儿童画报》到现在的《科学探索》、《中华上下五千年》等一些思想内涵较高的书籍，时间在书柜里留下了我思想成长的足迹。
前几天，邻家送来几盆色彩鲜艳的花朵，那扑鼻的清香真令我陶醉，让我度过了几个美好的“花香之夜”，然而五六天后，这几盆花先后枯萎凋零了。从自然界的变化我也感受到了时间的痕迹。
时间伴随它留下的痕迹而飞逝。它从你的指缝中流过；从你的话语中掠过；从你的眼前溜过；从你的脚边划过。就这样它在你无意中飞走了。在这无意中，你又何曾知道你做了些什么?
时间如此短暂而又如此公平，不同的人对待它截然不同，有人视时间为生命，分秒必争，为人类作出了许多贡献；而有人却不然，他们碌碌无为虚度光阴，时间的价值在他们的身上完全消失了，这样的人生又有何意义而言呢?
